Does anyone know why 150009 is currently running in this strange formation? Has one of 150109's been damaged or is it being stored?

Thanks! How long will 55109 and 216's other half be out for? Just to add, there are a lot more 2 cars I notice. I went on 150102 today by itself but it very speedy and was just like new!!!!

150102 has always been a 2 car set along with 150101! These 2 could not be renumbered as 3 car sets as they would clash with the original 3 car sets 150001 & 150002!

Excuse me if this sounds stupid, but dunno whether you notice as well, but barring 001 & 002, which are the original 150/0 3 car units, if you take the centre DM cars, & pair them with their sister car, i.e. 57210 & 52210 from units 003 & 005 respectively for example, you end up making back up 2 car 150/2s. Going by this, returning units 003-019 back to normal 2-car units, & taking away the original centre 150/2 DM car, you can make up an extra 6 2-car 150/2 units, & a few spare cars left over for good measure. Just saying this as wasn't sure if you were aware of this or not, so apologies in advance.

Apologies, misinterpreted your post

If you reform the 150/2s from the 150/0s there would be 2 spare coaches. Both of these are 572xx vehicles which do not have toilets so you would have to be careful how you pair them up with anything else if you are trying to avoid toiletless sets.

Surely these two cars must have had a 522xx car to go with each of them at one point. Whatever happened to their corresponding 522xx coaches that they were at one point paired with when built? This make one wonder that there may be a train or two running around somehwere with one too many toilets.

Both of the 522xx cars were written off after accidents.

Though in this day and age, even more so after the current Scotrail 320 Toilet job, that it wouldnt be too difficult to retro fit a toilet in...Although would this then cause problems due to dissability rights? Would they have grandfather rights?

11th November 1988 - 2F31, the 22:10 from Blackpool North to Liverpool Lime Street, formed of Class 150/2 DMU 150209. 52209 was leading and 57209 was trailing. The leading car became derailed immediately after passing over a junction just south of St Helens Central Station. As it did so the leading end
struck the abutment of a bridge. The front left side of the 52-car was crushed causing the driver to be killed instantly; 16 passengers in that carriage received minor injuries.

So that is why 209 is missing its pair. Sad to hear of the death and injuries caused.
