Just an odd one that popped up on a front end turn today.

Does anyone know why Platform 11, and to a lesser extent 12, at Liverpool Street have a huge great kink in it? It looks like its done to avoid something and I can't imagine that a designer would have designed the platform like that without good reason.

Anyone know any more. The best guesses we could come up with was either a building pile, tube tunnel or buried river.

Sitting on a train in platform 13 so just been looking at platform 12. Didn't look too kinky to me, platform 15 is kinkier.

If you mean at the country end, the track layout used to support loco moves to and from the holding sidings. Platforms 11 and 12 were good for loco hauled trains as the locos could get on and off the sidings without affecting much else.
