Now then, when I were a lad the London terminii were known as Liverpool Street, Paddington, King's Cross, St Pancras etc etc.
These days, when you are travelling on the train you are told you are arriving at "London" Euston or "London" Victoria.
It's the same with airports, Luton is known as London Luton, London Stansted etc.
Is this because people think by sticking London in front of a name it makes it better or more important ?
All seems pretty daft and unnecessary to me.
