London bus tickets in the recent era

I was perusing the web as you do and found a rather strange image. It was of a ticket machine in a London bus station. It was obviously fairly recent and sold both singles and day passes for buses and trams.

Are these still around, and what did/do the tickets look like? Last thing I was aware of you had to use oyster (although that can be tapped up with cash) but I’ve never seen or heard of London bus ticket machines, at least in the recent era.

Anybody got any photos of the tickets/info on the machines

They introduced on street ticket machines on some busy routes around 2002 or something. They were basically the same as car park payment machines. Remember seeing them near Holborn and Waterloo on the 521 route. Don't remember when they were removed because my job moved to a different part of London a few years later. Called Roadside Ticket Machines apparently.

Don't know if that's the kind of thing you're thinking of.

West Croydon bus station has a ticket machine that's like the newer ones found elsewhere on TfL, but the software on it is different as it isn't in a train station

Apparently they were heavily used on the bendy bus routes. Sure there was some news story at the time about people blocking the coin slots so they could nab the cash but can't find one now!
