London Bus Routes

Before the age of Super loop buses what was considered to be the longest London Bus Route. I have heard mention the route from Croydon to Heathrow was , not sure of the Route Number. However that is south of the river. What about on the North Side? I am referring to length of journey in distance not time.

Croydon to Heathrow was the X26 which has simply been renumbered to SL7 under the new Superloop scheme.

The longest non Superloop night routes by miles are:

• 1st - N199 - Trafalgar Square to St Mary Cray

• 2nd - N89 - Trafalgar Square to Erith

• 3rd - N9 - Aldwych to Heathrow T5

• 4th - N68 - New Oxford Street to Old Coulsdon

• 5th - N15 - Oxford Circus to Romford

The longest non Superloop day routes by miles are:

• 1st - 465 - Dorking to Kingston

• 2nd - 166 - Epsom to Croydon

• 3rd - 111 - Heathrow T123 to Kingston

• 4th - 358 - Orpington to Crystal Palace

• 5th - 246 - Bromley to Chartwell

The top five day bus routes listed above are all shorter in length than all of the top five night bus routes.

If you allow non TFL bus routes that enter London then the 701 and 702 from London to Reading easily beats all of the above.

At a quick glance through, for your north London question, (111 is theoretically north of the Thames, but south London!), 232 is 13 miles, and 34, 102, 114, 121, 123, 142, 145 and 282 are all 12 miles.
