London Bridge Work: 2015-2017

While this is a long way off, I've just learned that between 2015/16, Charing X trains won't call at London Bridge (probably Thameslink services as well), while between 2016/17, no Cannon St services will call at London Bridge.

Obviously this will cause major disruption. But, does anyone know what (if any) changes will occur in services to work round this?

Well, Charing Cross services heading west can use the avoiding line, but I can't think how they would work it as it lies now. However, the new bridge and work to the low number bays may make it more obvious at the time.

I think we discussed it a while ago, in a thread where someone was proposing the use of Waterloo International during the works, as can be seen this isn't mentioned, it seems to have been completley dropped as a solution...

Seeing as TL services are being diverted for many years, when the high level run through's are in effect could some services to cannon street, not shunt via blackfriars run round road or metropolitain reversible then around the little used metropolitain chord into cannon street. Thus still enabling a stopping call at London bridge.

Or the capacity on the "shunt road", really, which plays an important escape route during current peak patterns.

Unlikely as the avoiding lines and Platforms 5/6 will be the first to be removed to allow building of the Borough Viaduct and the Charing Cross through platforms. Presumably the Charing Cross lines will be moved over towards the Cannon Street lines on a temporary route (probably where the Thameslink platforms will eventually be) whilst the building work occurs then the reverse when the Cannon Street Platforms are constructed. Then lastly they will install the Thameslink Platforms.

The western connection into Cannon St is removed as part of the project. There's no info that I can find on exactly when that will happen, but I don't think it can necessarily be assumed to be available throughout the period.
