London Bridge - Track Fire Outside Station

Not seen this on the forum, forgive me if I’ve missed it, but looks like a track fire outside London Bridge last night. SE reckon P 6 & 7 will be shut until Sunday due to cable damage, etc.

Revellers looking to enjoy a Friday night out in London are facing huge travel disruptions because of a lineside fire at London Bridge train station.

Video footage shows a fire burning away while shocked would-be passengers look on from the platform.

Trains to and from Charing Cross are being severely disrupted because of the fire next to the track, Southeastern Railway reported.

It was a bit shambolic with no information regarding which train may be quickest to get to any particular destinations, but I guess they didn't know.

I therefore got the first available direct train to where I was going, but it turned out there would have been two quicker options. However with no other information to go on, I wasn't going to let a train go without knowing there was an alternative.

Either it wasn't mentioned that some trains were starting at New Cross or, if it was was, I certainly didn't hear or see it.

All thameslink trains were diverted via herne hill yesterday IIRC. I thought the fire was just outside london bridge

I went through at around 2245 - trains starting from Cannon St. No PIS displays (understandably), but clear announcements about which departure was going where and an impressive throughput of trains on P1.

Made all of ten mins difference to my journey home - a very good effort in the circumstances.

With platforms 6&7 unavailable today, and the Thameslink core also shut, Down Charing Cross trains today are all taking the somewhat unusual route of Platform A Waterloo East, Down Snow Hill (Thameslink viaduct), Platform 3 London Bridge, Line 4 Down (Thameslink track) and then rejoining the Down Kent Fast at New Cross.

It was confusing this morning. At Waterloo East the PIS was saying 'delays after London Bridge due to emergency track work in the London Bridge area'. But once we got past LBG with no issues I noticed the PIS on the platforms on the other side on the following stations also said 'delays after London Bridge' as if they couldn't make their mind up where it was. Thanks for the explanation, it all makes sense and thankfully didn't delay my own journey.
