London bridge redevelopment/disruption

Hello all,

I am very much appreciating the redevelopment of London Bridge station and am sure the service benefits upon completion will be excellent. I realise this work involves (and will involve) a lot of disruption. I was wondering if any arrangements have been made to compensate season ticket holders whose travel has been/will be disrupted during this period.

My specifics are that I work next to LBG and commute from Sanderstead to LBG 6, often 7, days a week. Weekdays are presently fine, but the all day closures at LBG on recent weekends are quite disruptive and extend journey times significantly, necessitating the slow FCC route to Blackfriars and walking, or changes at Clapham Junction and Waterloo East. I imagine that weekday services will be similarly affected in the coming months.

Do TOCs pay out delay repay against the original timetable (I suspect not) or do TFL allow (season?) ticket holders to use the underground from Victoria? I seem to recall some letters from MPs raising similar concerns re the disruption and wonder if anything came of them?

I realise Southern could probably provide these answers, but was hoping you might be faster than their customer service!

You won't get much if you bought your season ticket after the disruptions were announced. When did you get it?

Cheers Island, it was purchased at the end of Dec last year. I can't say I didn't realise that there would be disruption as the publicity regarding the Thameslink upgrades has been pretty good - the gripe is that service delivery this year is much reduced, which grates when season ticket pricing rose as usual!

There's no gain without some pain.

When the Thameslink box was being built at St Pancras (around 10 years ago iirc!) services terminated at St Pancras rather than running through the core which was a big inconvenience to passengers wanting to get to stations further south.

I can't remember of any special arrangements were put in place but I don't remember any.

Trains did run south from Kings X Thameslink during that blockade.

Ah yes! You had to walk from St Pancras to Kings Cross Thameslink iirc.

I was involved with the running of the newspaper kiosk at Harpenden station at the time and the sales took a nosedive.

Many of the passengers living west of Harpenden switched to the WCML from Hemel Hempstead as it gave a quicker overall journey.
