I also was struggling to find a definitive and concise timeline, only a very vague one on the Network Rail website

Well if as said the Sussex Down slow is ahead of schedule, then hopefully it may open early. It will provide alot of relief to the congestion around South Bermondsey Junction.

The other useful presentation has now disappeared on line but there are plenty of copies.

Opening early would be nice but I suspect the biggest issue is too opening early is commissioning the signalling which is easiest done at Xmas '16 presumably due to some CST lines signalling transferring to Three Bridges and some alteration to existing at August '16 it might be too risky to attempt more in that blockade as sussex down slow would be lower priority?
We can only hope:(

There's a significant transfer of signalling to Three Bridges in August 16. And no guarantee at all that the weather will hold (as it has) and enable an early finish on the dive under.

I'm fully expecting awful weather in Jan - early March as payback for the good autumn!

What are we getting next August? Cannon St to country side of London Bridge (similar to Charing X w/s?)

Cannon St WS (HL09 stage) due for commissioning in Aug 2016, will extend further to the country end than this weeks Charing Cross WS (HL07 stage) commissioning. Think it's to somewhere around NXG, but don't have the plans to hand.
I have all the stage info upto HCI13 & HL07 final stages in Dec 2018 Inc mapping. Lewisham & Grove Park WS designs will be available in Jan/Feb 16'.

If I have worked it out right, that's taken from the new viaduct, just west of Borough Market and behind the Hop Exchange building, just where the new and old viaducts merge. View looking to the west, the yellow plant in the right hand foreground is sitting roughly where the up line towards Waterloo East ran before Christmas.

If only they'd taken a pic during the day...

Gosh the cold wind has arrived today. It's evenings like this that remind me what a cold, windswept and barren station our new London terminus is.
I'm sure the designers had something in mind when planning London Bridge but I can't fathom what it could possibly have been.

Once the Undercroft is open they probably expect people to wait down there with, no doubt, all the retail outlets.

I went up the Shard yesterday and it looked as if the track works to move the tracks on to the new viaduct had been completed and no one appeared to be working there, however they were still working on the tracks approaching London Bridge. I took a couple of pictures, once I work out how to post them, and if they actually came out I'll post them!

Thanks for the update! The signalling workstation is being commissioned and handed over Saturday morning which is 2 days ahead of schedule. Test trains run over the weekend.

Certainly when I went through yesterday morning I saw a sum total of 6 staff, 1 Freightliner driver in his 66 cab with his feet up on the desk. 2 hi vis guys on the approaches chatting and 3 guys on the SE gateline again all with their feet up. Looked to me like no evidence of time pressures - presume with the ideal weather no use of contingency planning was needed.

Much of the plain line track was laid along the new viaduct some weeks ago, so disconnecting and reconnecting at the west end (the location in the photo linked above) would have been quite a straightforward part of the project, and presumably took place early in the overall closure.

As has been said by others, the work on the ground has been relatively straightforward (still quite a of if it, but nowhere near as much as last Christmas). There is however a lot of signalling testing and commissioning work going on in the equipment rooms and at TBROC. Test trains have been running this morning.

Just wondering about the possible techniques used in this sort of staging of a major layout change. Do they ever run a temporary route using it's final signalling equipment?

To explain the question in a different way, if a track is to eventually become the up Charing Cross, can they wire it all up as though it is 'logically' that track before it is physically in its final position? In which case the S&T can 'move' a working system from one location to another, which is presumably slightly less complex than installing from scratch?

Yes that can be, and is done, although not in this case. Almost all the signalling being commissioned this weekend is 'final', with some minor amendments to come in future stages. However, almost everything being commissioned onto TBROC now is in its final position.

Previous stages east of London Bridge have have seen the tracks moved and the 'old' signalling moving with them.

Have there been any other civils works this closure, such as removal of more footbridge or any demolition of parts of old platform 4?

I've just been down the new Down line from Waterloo East - it feels quicker than the old crawl through LB! Should help with general reliability.

Congrats on getting all the work done on time. One thing that I noticed, though not something that will impact operationally, is the sheer amount of apparently untreated concrete exposed to the weather that is used at the station and graffiti on the new bridge. The concrete will rapidly weather and the station could look pretty grim in 5-10 years.
