LON terminals question

Hi All

2 Questions please.....I'm travelling from Godalming to London and back soon on two Anytime Day Singles, my ticket states LON as opposed to WAT......

1. So I need to get to Kings Cross / St Pancras for a meeting.......when I go to the meeting - I get into Waterloo and then will drop down onto the tube getting over to my destination. Will I be able to continue to use my GOD-LON ticket or does me going through the barrier at Waterloo end that ticket?

2. Coming back - I have a LON-GOD ticket, can I use it at Kings Cross / St Pancras travel to Waterloo on the tube, effectively break my journey as I need to go to Croydon for a few hours so my plan was to use Contactless at Waterloo - go to Clapham Junction and then drop down to Croydon (think the Contactless fare is £4.40) - after my few hours in Croydon I will then again use Contactless from Croydon to Waterloo and then pick up the fast train down to Godalming (or even get the stopping one down from Clapham Junction).

@Pieman007. If your Anytime Day Single tickets from/to Godalming have been issued to/from London Terminals, reckon they'll have no onward validity on London Underground after arriving at London Waterloo. You'd have likely needed a paper Day Travelcard to do what you're proposing, or, of course, some contactless alternative for when you're crossing Central London.

This page describes the validity of London Terminals from different directions. Services into Waterloo can get to City Thameslink or Charing Cross but no further.

Tickets to London Terminals from the South generally have no validity on London Underground services. The closest to Kings Cross you can get is City Thameslink by walking from Waterloo to Waterloo East, then taking a train to London Bridge and doubling back there.

You can also alight at Vauxhall (or Victoria by changing at Clapham Junction) to use the Victoria Line, but would need to use Contactless or buy a ticket for that.

The destination you need is Zone U1 (or London Underground Zone 1), which is only available on a magnetic ticket, not as an e-ticket.

Your tickets to "LON" will be eTickets and not only are they not valid for onward travel to King's Cross/St Pancras, there is no chance that any London Underground staff would let you past a barrier using them.

The OP didn't specify how or where the tickets were bought. Godalming ticket office and TVMs issue London Terminals tickets on magstripe CCST.

A ticket issued on CCST or Paper Roll Ticket will not be using 3-letter codes for the origin and destination, whereas the codes quoted are exactly as would be found on an eTicket.
