Locos at Wembley

Morning all

Passing by Wembley yard is getting more and more interesting! I was getting used to seeing classes 56 and 37 there and then this morning I was greeted by the sight of 50008 Thunderer!

Anyone know the reason(s) for this influx of elderly locomotives?

In the case of 50008 it had brought some overhauled container flats to Wembley from Long Marston on Tuesday.

I'm sure 37s are common there (especially ROG) as there are new units delivered to London frequently.

It is always exciting to pass Wembley as you never know what to expect! Sometimes there can be next to nothing there, and if you're lucky you can get loads of locos.

Thunderer thundered through Bletchley the other night en route form Long Marston to Wemberlee - lots of surprised commuters! We had a WCRC 37 the same night. Until fairly recently the ROG 37's were regulars along the Vale but i haven't seen one for a while.

50008 back to Leicester LIP today. I was expecting a ROG 37 and I got a 50 instead!

When i used to go spotting in the mid 90s... the 50s were gone, the 37s were being severely run down and many withdrawn and i never thought therewould be examples running 20+ years later! Good isnt it! and with a load of 56s getting a big overhaul the 'future' looks bright!

They might be elderly but I bet that they're more reliable than those recycled class 47s on the Pz sleepers.
