Thieves steal locomotive and miniature railway track

A locomotive and lengths of miniature railway track have been stolen from the East Kent Railway Trust.

A locomotive and lengths of miniature railway track have been stolen from a charity.

Police have released CCTV of thieves who gained entry to East Kent Railway Trust in Station Road, Shepherdswell, near Dover, and stole numerous items.

It will be really really disappointing if these thieves realise they cannot resell the loco as is, and just weigh it in for scrap. I guess the loco is way to distinctive to be "sold down the pub on a Friday night".

Sometimes things like this get stuck in a container and taken abroad, though not sure what the resale value will be for something this specialised. More likely they’ll take out the engine and weigh in the rest.

It might not be as difficult to sell on as some here might think, it’s an off-the-shelf Maxitrak product, very much their ‘starter’ loco, and there’s plenty of them kicking about.
