A few weeks ago I read an article in one of the railway publications about loco haulage for some Chiltern Railway services. The short article quoted that Chiltern had trained their drivers at Banbury class 67s and to utilize this asset a peak return service between London and Banbury would be loco and stock from the end of the year, it also stated this was a long term project as opposed to the normal stop gap move.

I have however heard nothing since this and wondered if anyone had any information.
Many thanks

Bearing in mind the speed restrictions W&SR are facing on the Chiltern using 67s and if Chiltern Railways are planning on doing this long term then will there be any work done to get rid of the differential speed limits on parts of the line, or are they mostly above Banbury?

Yeah, WSMR are negotiating with NR about the differencial 60/100mph restrictions. I think it should be raised to at least 90mph, if it is to have any effect on journey times.

Only changes they will get initially are the ones at Princes Risbrough and Bicester on the down, and Aynho to Bicester on the up. Nothing else major will happen yet. They will get 60 through PR and 65 at Bicester. Up will get 85 between Aynho and Bicester. They may get 40 over Aynho flyover.
