Loco by road in Derby today.

Typical. A friend tells me that they had to get out of the way for a locomotive on a low loader heading round this Ring Road in Derby earlier. When asked which loco it was, they replied "No idea. But it was very dirty".

Was it one of the 455 coaches recently seen around Derby? I know it's not a loco but a lot of people confuse units and locos

I might never find out. I thought the 455s might move to Kingsbury for scrap. That said, there is a possibility that a coach has moved to that site at Stoke.

There was an Allellys low loader in the Derby Research (Loram) site today. I believe it loaded a coach (dirty yellow). I saw another one loaded there this week. That one was a Mark 2D-2F Network Rail Air Conditioned coach. No idea of destination - I saw it from a passing train.

Could be that. Whatever my contact saw, they saw it on Osmaston Park Road. That might suggest it was heading for the A38 or A50. South West/West. Are such coaches going for scrap.

Some 455s have gone to Wards in Ilkeston for scrapping. Not too far from Litchurch Lane.
