A long time ago you had request stops and bus stops. Buses HAD to stop at bus stops.

Now they all say bus stop and usually say signal clearly to driver (or similar) underneath.

Buses still seem to have some stops they MUST stop and open/close the doors at regardless, although our local bus operator likes to skip stops completely and often gets to the destination well early. I feel sorry for those who turn up at a bus stop to wait for the bus that left 5 minutes before it should.

Thank God the railway doesn't have the same problem with early running, or skipping stops. My father-in-law is a bus driver in Sweden (with Arriva!) and can't believe how bad it can be here - considering early running or short cutting to get back to the depot quicker cardinal sins.

btw Royaloak, my opinion rant in my previous post was not in any way aimed at you, its just what I think those grumpy bus drivers with the 'screw the passengers' approach should do.

Oh dont worry mate I worked that out, I mean as you said its your opinion and if we all had the same opinion wouldnt life be boring ;).

Dont get me wrong, I worked with some right miserable "drink sellers", and used to tell them what I thought of them as well.
