These are troubled times - in the absence of football and racing - one particular group is really suffering. I refer, of course, to book-makers. So why don't we suggest that they offer odds on the success of the various "Let's Reverse the Beeching Cuts". It really would be a game of skill - in that the scale and cost of restoration ( the horse) has to be matched to the political skill of the Member of Parliament in influencing the Prime Minister. You will note that PMQ's has been peppered with soft ball questions from Conservative MPs about reopening routes in their constituency.
