I wonder if I could call on the learned advice from people on this board to help my mum and step dad.

They need to travel down on the sleeper on the 25th of October and return by normal trains on the 30th October. They have a disabled persons railcard. They are happy to travel first class if the price is ok

They can only travel down after work on the 25th, so say 1700 for the earliest travel time, but can return at any time on the 30th

I also have a few associated questions:

1) Can standard class sleeper passengers use the showers at Euston? If they can there is no need for a first class ticket on the sleeper as the accommodation is identical.
2) Do the tickets allow for cross London transfer by tube?
3) Is there a great price difference in say, taking the last southbound train of the day rather than the sleeper? ( if it is easier/cheaper they could book a hotel in London)
4) Are they to early to book this journey now?
5) Is it cheaper to come back by sleeper on the 30th?

AFAIK....

1) First class ticket holders only
2) Yes
3) The price of the sleeper berth as a minimum, however Advance tickets may be available for the day time train (I don't think there is a through Advance ticket for the sleeper), splitting may be an option.
4) Tickets generally go on sale 8-12 weeks before the departure of the train.
5) Cheaper? probably not, but that would be because of the cost of the berth.

(They are only booking to August at the moment) check regularly as the cheapest tickets soon go.

Rather than cross London by Underground they may find it easier walking down the Euston Road from Euston and getting FCC to Brighton.

Normal advance tickets will be available approx 12 weeks before departure.

Yes it will be vastly cheaper, the saving could be used to travel First Class on the 16:40 or 18:40 Glasgow - Euston services
Furthermore hot evening meal would be included
The saving on the berth supplement can then be used towards a hotel, probably including breakfast at more realistic time
Overall the cost would probably be the same

Have you thought about Flying from Glasgow Airport to Gatwick Airport with British Airways?

then all you need is the train from Gatwick to Brighton, just an option just incase the fares are too expensive when the advance fares come out.

well by looking at E Bookers there is an 1905 on the 25th or an early morning flight..
