I did say during the last lockdown that all tickets other than Anytime Singles should be withdrawn, because if you need to travel you'll pay that much but otherwise you won't.
Thankfully, such ideas were not considered.
As a key worker, I had no choice but to travel. I can keep the cost down considerably by buying off-peak returns with a Gold Card discount, as my shift is fully outside peak hours (so daily tickets work out cheaper than buying a Season)
Under your idea, I would have had to pay 2x £15.50 every day, instead of £10.85/day... a HUGE increase

Indeed, limiting tickets and increasing costs for key workers & those of us that rely on public transport is a terrible idea.

In that case, the starting fine will be upped to £400 at midnight tomorrow.

Somewhere in Whitehall, a minister or civil servant is running round in ever decreasing circles, screaming 'listen to me, listen to me, listen to me, why is no-one listening to me, how can I make then listen".

It certainly has that feel!

Quite a bit of push-back on tonight’s news from people in the Liverpool area concerned about the impacts in jobs, wellbeing and mental health.

The tide is definitely starting to turn. Unfortunately the problem is who cares about somewhere like Liverpool whilst Karen is happily working from home in the Home Counties and doesn’t have to get up to take the train to work?
There were similar push backs in Middlesbrough and Hartlepool.

Good to see local politicians speaking out against these lockdowns.
