Chiltern will need the 172's for evergreen 3 as they need a very quick train to be able to run the timetable from Marylebone to Brum without the stoppers slowing the fast services so it would be poinless they use anything else!

I heard (a good while back) that Chiltern not getting 172s was dependent upon a proper refurb of the 165 fleet, new engines the works which would have presumably done that job but I've not heard anything about said turbo plans actually happening.
If you read the post above 165's will not be adequate to run with EG3, poor accelleration, the 172's are being purchased by Chiltern for their accelleration so as not to delay the EG3 timetabled flyers!

Theres too much speculation I think. Lets just stick with what we know for now. That is Chiltern are getting 172s and 67s for loco hauled services. Until an official source confirms otherwise
