LNER units on 1 February (strike day)

Hi all,

Wondering if some of you can shed some light of an issue I spotted yesterday. I raised it with LNER on Twitter, no response yet.

My train on Wednesday is cancelled (obviously), so I went into the website to change my trains and reservations. LNER is running a two-hourly service from Leeds to Doncaster, connecting with a service starting from York and stopping everywhere. The train information for each leg said it would be an LNER 225 service - but the reservation diagrams were for a 9-car Azuma (Azumas have the half-and-half coach). The original service, 12.45 ex-Leeds, would have been an LNER 225 set (in theory).

Does anyone know if they will actually be Azumas? For me there's the potential annoyance of travelling backwards on an aisle, table seat for two hours if I've reserved the wrong seat; for some, there may be the real difficulty of the wheelchair space being in a different carriage to the one advertised in the train information (and some distance away).

Being a strike day I would imagine it will be all Azuma.

Thatnks. That was my thinking, and that the error was with the information page rather than the reservation plan. And even then, we might get a 2x5 set, just to be annoying. How busy it gets is another matter...

Not sure any 225 sets ran on the last strike, but given it'll be the managers driving it's extremely likely to be Azumas. 9 / 10 car will depend on service on the day and days before the strike. I know they were moving sets around last minute to cover services on the last strike day for example.

Every diagram on Wednesday is a class 80x. I assume if they had 225s out there would need to be thunderbird coverage etc.

Will be Azuma as the contingent manager staff will struggle with the 225s and the facilities are clearer for those of us to manage who don't do it as a day job.

E.g. People like me who can't handle the big heavy doors as I am a wimp.

225s don’t have booked work on strike days. They remain available as spares on strike days but so far haven’t seen any passenger use on strike days in that role.

Thunderbird coverage isn’t that much of an issue here. The locos themselves remain available on strike days, and even on non-strike days there often isn’t a driver for them, meaning that if a 225 does require rescue a loco and driver has to be brought in from a FOC.

Thanks all. Hoping it will be nice and quiet so I can eat my bag of wine gums and read my copy of Modern Railways without attracting dirty looks. (Off-topic: I wish there was a way to look at how busy a service is looking without having to pretend to book a ticket and go through to the reservations screen.)
