LNER Trains - Busy or not?

I am travelling return in between Edinburgh Waverley and King's X soon, does anyone know if these services are 'busy'? Please bear in mind that this will be during the easter holidays from schools.

Stops at Newcastle and York only

I suspect that both trains will be very busy indeed. I would recommend getting a seat reservation....unless it's already included with your ticket

Taking today as an example, both have loadings (well, reservations) around 60% at their busiest point in Standard, with it being up to 85% (ish) full in First on the 12:30 off Kings Cross.

This is broadly what I've observed from the past few months - both services load pretty decently but not anywhere near totally full, with First Class typically being busier.

At Easter I'd expect them to be busier, though it very much depends on the day of the week you're travelling. Easter weekend itself (plus Maundy Thursday) I would strongly recommend a reservation.

Reservations, that is. Though I would imagine on those fast services the number of passengers without any reservation would be quite small.

If you want a slightly quieter coach then try and shift the default reservation into coach G as that tends to be the last to get filled

The school Easter holidays are not the same everywhere, either. For the stops on these trains, London and York are March 28th to April 12th, whereas Newcastle and Edinburgh are April 2nd - April 19th.
