LNER Smartcard on GWR Services

Apologies if this has been covered - I couldn't find it in search.

I am a regular user of a weekly season between Didcot & Paddington, I usually buy on a GWR smart card, however I have been made aware of the 10% offer when buying from LNER.
I have got an LNER Smartcard, Is there any reason why I can't buy the ticket from LNER on their Smartcard and use it at the GWR stations. I did try to use the GWR smart card but the LNER app won't allow me to register it.
If it works will I be able to activate it from my iPhone or will I need to tap in to collect at Didcot?

I wouldn't be so confident. Lots of gatelines (off LNER's patch) are not programmed properly for ITSO cards and will reject valid tickets whilst accepting their paper equivalents happily. It's led to me quitting using ITSO because it's even more difficult to convince gateline attendants of the validity of a ticket they can't read.

GWR is pretty good with ITSO, especially for something as simple as Didcot to London.

Any ITSO card will work, I see all sorts daily, through Exeter Central this morning I observed a TfW one, Greater Anglia and an XC one, all worked fine. As long as the product thats loaded is valid.
