GW Railwayana Auctions sold three for £260 in 2016.

Don't know whether there would be any mileage in pre-emptively contacting the various Railwayana auction houses to ascertain if they might have anything in an upcoming auction.
Reckon that as these medals have an intrinsic value (because of their silver content), you might possibly be looking at paying up to £100 for a specimen in good condition once you've factored in buyer's premium + VAT.

Thanks MCR Warrior, I have done that for those houses that offer that facility but had no response so far. A good specimen could very well be in that order of cost.

Presumably they aren't still valid for travel? Otherwise, that price would be very cheap. I can remember regularly seeing gold & silver medallions in first class in B.R. days; the Henley on Thames branch had a few regulars. If I'm remembering correctly, I think the only difference between the two types was that the gold ones were valid on ships. With this being in the 1980's, these were presumably B.R.-issued medallions; I know GWR-issued ones were listed in the "Ticket Examiners Handbook" as still being valid & available for use at the time.
