After cycling LEJOG, i planned to return from Inverness on Sunday 02/10/22. However it appears the the Highland Mainline is shut all weekend for engineering work. I'm also aware that there will also be work between Edinburgh and Newcastle meaning the usual diversion via Carlisle, which I had already factored in.
What are the usual Bus replacement for LNER from Inverness?
Are we talking non stop express bus Inverness to Perth (or Edinburgh), or an all shacks bus taking an eternity to Perth?
Other options I'm looking at is travel via Aberdeen and pick up LNER from there, assuming the 1347 Sunday departure runs, or waitng for the sleeper which will be diverted via Aberdeen.
Flying is an option, although I also have to get back from either LTN/LGW/LHR to Peterborough. Not a fan of flying though and would much prefer the train, even with the diversion.
