LNER & Connections query

Good afternoon.

I have an advance ticket from Huddersfield to London Kings Cross which is marked LNER and Connections with an Itinerary with mandatory reservations. I didn’t book this, it was arranged through work.

The reservation has me Huddersfied->Wakefield Kirkgate->Wakefield Westgate which is a bit of a faff, I’d prefer to go via Leeds.
Will I get pulled up if I do this any my ticket gets checked?

Yes, all trains between Leeds and Wakefield Westgate are reservable, and I assume you were wanting to travel on LNER from Leeds, which would never be allowed, as it isn’t the ‘& Connections’ portion. You cannot travel via Leeds, and much take all trains you have a reservation for.

It is likely this is just something that made your ticket a bit cheaper going this route, but of course with the downside of a bit less convenient route.

That inference can't be drawn from the routeing via Wakefield Kirkgate. However, the time to consider different itineraries is unfortunately only at the booking stage.

Yes I was more meaning you can never do this for the main TOC, regardless of the specific query.

Yeah I had it in my head this would be the slower routing, but it does seem to actually be significantly quicker.

Does your journey coincide with the weekday closure through Dewsbury, perhaps?
