Spotted a LNER Azuma 800202 at South Bank (Teeside) today at about 3.15. I think the run was in preparation for a London service from Middlesbrough

That's what it is. They have been doing some weird and wonderful routes for training recently including reversals at Eaglescliffe and Shell Junction.

Shell Junction is the reversing point in RTT for the ECS moves for the initial one train each way services in December. The ECS from Heaton will run through, (or past?), Middlesbrough and have about 10 mins at the junction before running back into platform 1. The ECS off the evening arrival will have 20 mins at the junction before heading to Heaton.
