Is anyone here familiar with the roster for drivers at King's Cross on completion of training?

Is there a chance of eventually working a fixed early or fixed late link, or will drivers normally work around the full roster with a mix of early, late & night shifts?

Come December everything is being ripped up and changed. Currently in the dark about how these changes are going to look. We likely won't know anything about the new shift patterns and days off until November, same goes whether or not we'll be offered fixes early, late or mixed links.

That should give you some idea. It looks similar to that now, and to my eyes looks difficult to do any swaps to a certain shift as some weeks have 2 rest days, some 3, some 4, and some runs of working days in a row stretch into the previous week or into the next (the last week on that roster linked to above has nights Sumday and Monday, but that run of nights starts in the previous week. So finding someone to swap those with - who crucially, needs to return to their position in the roster after the swap, seems very hard/impossible to me.

Currently work round the full roster, to answer your question.

'SP' is 'Spare' and means you can be allocated a duty that starts +/- 3 hours either side of your spare start time.
SD is Safety update Day or 'Safety Brief'.

I've got a friend who is in a really fortunate position whereby he has got the option of choosing between both of these companies in Leeds, they've both offered him a contract as a trainee train driver. Obviously there is a big difference in salary, pretty sure Northern is £54k and LNER pay...

Hey everyone. So, I had my psychometrics back in November and failed the group bourdon test to enhanced standard (although I did pass to national standard). Very disappointing obviously, but then about a month ago I got a phone call asking me to go back and have a resit! So I have that on Monday now, fingers crossed!
