The release states:

As with the LNER Azuma trains, each seat will have its own plug socket, along with the introduction of USB-C ports for phone charging. At table seats, sockets and USB-C ports will feature in a power bar on the tabletop.

Does that mean that the 897s will have 3-pin 230-240V "plug sockets" and USB-C ports, but not USB-A ports?

Maybe, but I still use it frequently and I probably still will in 2028 (granted, I'm not "most people" and I won't frequently use the 897s).

All models of the iPhone 14 came with 20 watt USB-C (to lightning) cables, which were originally launched by Apple back in 2017. Eleven years before these trains are due to be introduced.

Only if you choose one that isn’t capable of power delivery mode. There are plenty that are capable of much faster charging.
