I gather from various sources that as part of the recent timetable change, the allocation of London Midland units to different routes has been played around with. An example of this is a 150 diagram on a service to Shrewsbury.

This got me thinking of a few questions....
- Are 172s cleared to work the New Street to Hereford services if necessary?
- Are 170s cleared for use on the snow hill lines?
- Has anything else ever filled in for a 323 on a cross city line diagram?

170s have worked Snow Hill Diagrams many times before, intact there is some 170 diagrams on the snow hill lines from the December Timetable Change.

Yes 172s are cleared from Hereford - New Street, a 2 car working on a Saturday does the additional Xmas Services from Bromsgrove, and also a diagram reaches Hereford with the Saturday Dorridge Service.

And a 3car runs a diagram on Sundays.

I don't know about now with LM, but when CT was around 150s and 158s made it onto XCity workings at least once.

Firstly the 150 Diagram is on New Street - Worcester - Hereford's NOT Shrewsbury's. The only Drivers that will be retaining 150 Knowledge are Bletchley,Tyseley Depot Drivers & Worcester + Bletchley & Worcester Conductors the reasons for which have been explained repeatedly on this & other threads.

170's diagrammed on Snow Hill Lines are 07.35 Wos-Dor back to Snow Hill then ECS to Tyseley. 13.17 & 16.17 Wos - Dor & Rtn's. (All Worcs Crews).
Morning turn 6 car 170. Afternoon turn 3 car 170 + 153. (All M - F Only).

172's to/from New St are Saturdays 09.56 Wos Nst ecs to Bromsgrove 11.** to New st ecs to Wos unit then goes on Snow Hill work (2 car172 but strengthend to 4 car until xmas). 15.54 wos -Nst, 16.49 Nst - hfd 3 car 172 then works 19.11 Hfd - Dor.

Not sure about Sunday but a 3 acr 172 works at least 1 if not 2 Nst - Hfd.

All 172 work to/from Nst is Worcs Crews.

Only Worcester sign 170's on Snow Hill Lines and Worcester is only depot that signs 172's & New Street.

A 170 made it onto a Liverpool / Birmingham service one morning in the summer after a 350 failure. 170s aren't uncommon on New Street / International stopping services either.

Bletchley traincrew don't sign 170's so they don't work Bletchley to Bedford services though.

Slight tangent but about 2 weeks ago I used a 170 on the Wolverhampton-Walsall Local's. Think a few too many 323's had broken doors. It didn't keep to time very well......
