This is nothing unusual. It also happens to employees of the company who are waiting to start their driver's course after passing the driver assessment tests.

LM now recruit most of their drivers from within the company. A lot of these recruits inevitably are conductors, so whenever a new driver's course commences, the company needs to recruit new conductors to replace them and they tend to take them on in small batches (enough to fill the training course.)

My advice would be to send the company an email at regular intervals, reminding them that you are still interested in working for them and ask for a possible start date.

Best of luck!

it was the same for the last few groups , i waited nearly a year to get started and it was well worth it , from what ive heard and take what you want from this, theres a group starting sept for b,ham depots ,snow hill etc , then for depots further south a course will run in jan

i think it will depend on what depots you have applied for

but it is completely normal for this kind of long draw out process in general railway terms , in terms of LM the process isnt the best BUT having been through the process recently there is a lot of applicants for every role , there's a massive amount of planning etc

stay patient and if it works out for you then you will have a cracking job .

good luck

Unfortunately, Maps has stopped.
Gunning7 - I second Cobbler. E-mail them, check that you're just waiting for a date. Have you had the medical?? Have they applied for references?? They didn't apply for my references for nigh-on three weeks after giving me a start date!!
Cobbler, I heard that the September intake has been put back for a bit, pending the drivers course starting - don't forget that a good few Guards (from my depot anyway) applied to be drivers, and they were only interviewed about a week ago. I'm hearing that more interviews for Guards will be scheduled around the January 2014 mark - having them on stream for the May timetable change. I think we're getting more work - the Spare link at my place is only temporary, till December, I believe.
