Travelling from Wolverhampton yesterday to Birmingham I was surprised to see a London Midland service running direct to Coventry via BHM and calling at local stations.

Am I going mad or is this a recently introduced service? I think it's the former but hope it's the latter!

What's it called? It's called Cumbernauld
I remember back in the early 1990s that there were local all stations stopping services from Wolverhampton to Coventry via Birmingham NS, every 30minutes during daytime. These were operated by British Rail/Regional Railways Central on behalf of West Midlands Passenger Transport Executive.

Anywhere B link goes
They WVH-COV stoppers were running when I was a guard for Central around the turn of the century. I believe they were a victim of the timetable recast to enable VT to run the extra EUS-BHM service

There is also the evening Euston-Crewe via Birmingham LM service that does a lot of the stops in between Cov and Wolverhampton.
