LM Birmingham-Euston recasting?

I've just checked some times from Rugby-Euston for September, and the LM times are different to now. I don't have time to rummage further at the moment, but it seems some significant changes are at hand. Does anyone know more?

Present southbound from Rugby (M-F) is:
xx12 to Northampton calling Long Buckby (occasionally joins with...)
xx20 to Euston calling Northampton, Milton Keynes and Watford
xx32 to Euston calling Long Buckby, Northampton, Wolverton, MK, Bletchley, L Buzzard, Berkhamsted, Hemel and Watford.

New timetable appears to have a new xx00 to Euston calling Long Buckby, Northampton, Wolverton, Milton Keynes, Bletchley and L Buzzard. Thanks to a short layover at Northampton this is the fastest train.
The xx12 to Euston also now seems to combine with the xx20 at Northampton all day.
The xx32 seems unchanged.

There appear to be nothbound changes too, with the xx13 now running at least to Rugby (and again as fast as the Crewe service).

Sure? Nothing in the TAA about that. The xx00 is an extension of the 2nd fast NMP service, first stop Leighton out of Euston which leaves Euston at xx13. I'll have to have a look.

Well, the LM website is letting me book advance tickets on them, let's put it like that.

I saw something on the LM Twitter a few days back saying they'd have (up to) 3 an hour from New St to Euston, rather than the current 1. I assume it'd be extensions of the current Northampton terminators.

Seeing as there is a Northampton to Euston shortly after the Birmingham to Northampton arrives (and v.v.) it makes sense to run them all the way through rather than making people scramble across Northampton station in 5 minutes to make the connection!

xx:13 and xx:46 from Euston will run through to Birmingham, front portion of the xx:46 continues on to Crewe. xx:54 will terminate at Northampton.

Looks like a 3tph service during peak time.

How come they are changing the timetable mid-timetable? Why wasn't this done in May or can't they wait until December? Not sure I agree with this practice unless there is very good reason. The rest of Europe seem to be happy with changing times once a year, and that time is also often the only time bus times change as well. Changing twice a year is already a significant departure from that standard. And of course buses need a mere 56 days notice.

From Birmingham the departures will be xx33 / xx53 from BHM - EUS.


xx33 will take 2hr16, with the xx53 taking around 2hr25

Is it a coincidence that this change wil take place about the same time that Chiltern start running the faster services to Birmingham?

This'll be handy, LM's super off peak is good value for a walk-up to London especially for me since time isn't of the essence.

I agree - wish LM would stop splitting trains at Northampton - always causes chaos on board for those who don't travel regularly!
