350371 is out in passenger service today, currently the rear set on 06:18 Northampton-Euston, formed of a /1, /2 and /3. (123,241 and 371).

368/71/73 are the units in use at the moment by LM.....368 has only one trip to Euston and back per day.

369/70 are now stored down at Camden C/S having had their software modifications.

Piecing information together from various sources:

From postings here LM appear to had so far used 368, 369 and 371 for their services working from Northampton and 373 from Bletchley on a captive diagram.

A posting on the wnxx forum stated the following locations for the 350/3s on 19 October:

368 Northampton
369/370 moving 5Z03 22+30 Northampton Depot to Camden CWM
371 Northampton depot
372 Crewe CS
373 Bletchley
374/375 Crewe CS
376/377 moving 5Z01 19+44 Camden CWN to Northampton Depot

There was a report on uk-rail of 372 and 374 working from Crewe CS to Northampton Emd yesterday (26 October) and a corresponding northbound working yesterday. Does this mean that 376 and 377 have gone to Crewe CS and 372 and 374 have taken their place at Northampton?

373 is reported in service today. Any plans to swap this one over?

Actually 350377 reported in service yesterday so presumably 368 and 371 went to Crewe?

368 and 375 are identifiable in LNWR at Crewe but the 3rd one is hidden in the middle so unsure of which that one is.
Hopefully 374 gets a good clean whilst at Northampton, I was on it a few weeks back doing training and it was how it came back from TPE complete with seat res and papers from the 28th August and some manky looking remnants of some sandwiches.

Finally travelled on one which was connected to a /1 and a /2. The guard had great pleasure in announcing that the new /3 was on the front and encouraged passengers to try it out.

Does anyone know what the /3s are on today? I'm hoping to get the 14:49 or 14:54 from MK to Northampton and any service back after about 4pm. Thanks!

Not the diagram starting with the 0715 BLY-EUS, which was formed of a 350/2 (front) and two /1s (rear), quite a nice answer to the old adage of putting more seats on near the front. I assume they're just wandering round in the same diagrams as the /1s?

12 cars on that train is very civilised - seats for everyone despite taking a fair load of extra passengers off the 0700 which was 18 minutes late.

Does anyone know if they'll be on any southbound departures around 4pm from Northampton?

As far as im aware the workings they operate are the ones Craig87034 posted in post 211 sothe closest to 4 would be the 17:06.

Well I'm on one now (2105 off Euston). Exactly like a 350/1 except green seats! Disappointingly mucky already, too - some passengers don't deserve new trains.

Actually, not quite exactly the same - a few small incremental improvements probably most noticeable to users of the longer distance services they are aimed at.

- Slightly more tables, or a change in the way they are distributed - in the coach with first class at the end opposite the bog, there are 5 tables and 2 pairs of airline seats, rather than 2 tables, one facing bay without a table, a pointless cupboard and 4 pairs of airline seats. I didn't walk through so there may be similar improvements elsewhere.

- Power sockets at the tables, one on each side.

- Better bins in a more sensible location by the doors so you can put your coffee cup in quickly on the way off (lazy people still won't, though, I bet).

- Where the space for a bay of 4 is slightly too wide, e.g. by the small bog, a standard bay size has been used and a bit of space left behind one seat back for luggage, rather than spreading the seats out to the point that it's hard to reach the table if you're not a monkey.

- Door button side panels grey a la /2 rather than blue a la /1 (almost didn't notice this). Similarly the gangway is part black and the new font is used (sadly - the font of the first 3 of 350 was a nice way to identify /1 or /2 from a distance!)

Surprised to see no LED lighting, though, particularly the spots in the bogs which remain tungsten.

Generally, though, just more of the same good solid middle distance units.

As I posted at the time, their specification is the one for the /4s,toned down. The First is the same as the other LM spec and there is one fewer loo. That's basically it.

How is crew training going on the 350/3s?

I think I read that they will be diagrammed alongside 350/1s without ther own specific diagrams. Will they be able to work on all current 350 routes from Sunday December 14 - eg including Birmingham to Liverpool and Euston to West Midlands?

Is there any possibility that they will be favoured for certain key services (eg the high peak arrival at Euston from the Trent Valley) given their slightly beter specification over the 350/1s?

Is there a reason unit deselect can't be used there as it is on short platforms on the south WCML?

Neil

South Parkway is UDS authorised to take an 8 car, even Mossley Hill is and i think Edge Hill is too.. Hartford is the issue at the moment as due to the building works half the platform is blocked and as the platform is normally 8 car, it is not authorised for UDS to be used. A few months back an 8 car was planned to be used on the 22:04 from Liverpool one night and the building contractors were brought in over the weekend to remove all the boardings and put it back for them to start work on the Monday all for one train to call.

It would seem odd this can't be authorised temporarily - is the risk of forgetting seen as too high perhaps?

For anyone interested, these seem to be in use on the WCML south again. 350 375 worked 2105 Euston - Bletchley tonight as a 4 car.

The guard seemed less than thrilled with the unreliable behaviour of the doors leading from the passenger compartment to the cab, though. Something to be sorted?

They have been in use on the southern end of the WCML for a while now. I have had a couple on the 1721 off MKC recently

Are the 350/3s in full service from today across the LM network (the bits that 350 normally work obviously)? (Clearly the enhanced timstable from tomorrow won't work if they aren't). If so, are they working in a standard pool with 350/1s?

My understanding is that New St and Coventry drivers still aren't signing them so they still won't be passing Northampton on the Birmingham services and won't be seen on Liverpools.

But do Coventry sign 350s at all?

I thought Birmingham signed 350s for Liverpool services?
