Does anyone know what the above unit is doing. LM crews do not sign dead end platforms or sidings at B'ham Moor st.

The unit is 172217 which has just been delivered this morning from Derby.

The service today seems to have at least 4, maybe 5 three car units in service. The line through Moor Street was busy with training and test runs with at least 2 two car units and 2 three car units in action around lunchtime.

If you sign a station you sign the associated shunts as far as I am aware. Certainly at Moor Street. If that is not the case then the Chiltern cover driver would have conducted the train into the sidings.

Just been informed unit still on delivery to LM should have arrived yesterday but failed enroute.

Re LM crews not signing blocks at Moor St. When that part was reopened Chiltern offered LM use of it but LM refused as they would then have been required to contribute to the cost etc. of reinstating platforms. As a result no LM crews received briefings/training.
In the good old days this wouldn't have been an issue. When Worcs drivers worked To Nottingham it was decided by some Pratt in an office that they had no need to sign north shunts at Derby or East shunts at Notts which caused problems at times. It's simply a case of penny pinching instead of common sence.

Colas drivers doing delivery runs from Derby so expect units anywhere as they tend to sign everywhere apparently!!!!

Sadly not the case. Only Chiltern sign the Bay Platforms 3 and 4 as well as the sidings. Chiltern would of conducted it in there.

The unit 172217 was out from Derby on a mileage run, and was worked by a Chiltern Driver on hire to Bombardier throughout, so no problem with a trip into Moor Street for a PNB then,

172217 was again in the sidings at Birmingham Moor St today 22/09. Left the sidings at 14:14 into P3 Moor St station, and departed at 14:22 to Banbury. I think the working is 5V72.

172217 arrived at Banbury North about 15.10 and departed back towards to Birmingham about 10 minutes later
