Llanelli Station - Proposed Transport Interchange

A new transport interchange is proposed for the south side of Llanelli station. I hope they make the parking bays big enough to open the doors of modern cars!

Looks like only 2 bus bays are proposed - which I would think is likely to be inadequate. The main bus terminal is in the centre of the town - which is about 1 mile from the train station. At present, bus links at the station are pathetic. Llanelli surely needs buses to go from the station via the town and on into the hinterland.

There is a significant opportunity for growth at Llanelli Railway Station, with previous studies identifying a need for the station to be able to accommodate higher passenger numbers in the future and increase attractiveness of the station. Llanelli station certainly does need better connections to the town centre. It's a long and sometimes unpleasant walk. I don't think many, if any, bus routes serve the station.

The station environment is a bit better with the new footbridge; the old one was appalling. Waiting rooms and toilets are often closed when the station is unstaffed. Maybe these could be kept available longer.

There are some hour gaps in the mainline timetable since TFW took some services out last December. To be attractive, there should be at least 2 trains per hour to Swansea and Carmarthen. GWR do have more services on the line now, but they are often cancelled or delayed.
