Hi all,

If I search for Llandudno [LLD] to Oxford [OXF] on nationalrail.co.uk on the 5th June leaving 15:00, then I get these options:

15:11 Llandudno [LLD] Oxford [OXF] 20:14
18:05 Llandudno [LLD] Oxford [OXF] 22:08
18:55 Llandudno [LLD] Oxford [OXF] 06:25

but if I do the same on redspottedhanky.com then I get:

15:11 Llandudno [LLD] Oxford [OXF] 19:14
16:52 Llandudno [LLD] Oxford [OXF] 21:38
18:05 Llandudno [LLD] Oxford [OXF] 22:08
18:55 Llandudno [LLD] Oxford [OXF] 07:14

So RSH thinks the 15:11 option is 1h quicker, only RSH thinks a 16:52 option exists, they agree on the 18:05 option, and NR thinks the 18:55 option is 49mins quicker.

Can anyone explain what's going on please?

Are all the journeys suggested by both sites valid?

Thanks
Ian

For the 18:55, NR sends you via Worcester, whereas all the walk-on fares for this flow are routed Banbury.

They're different routes.

For the 1511 departure they both have you change at Llandudno Junction onto the 1526 to Manchester Picc, but NRE leaves you on that train all the way to Stockport before putting you on an XC service destined for Bournemouth to get to Oxford. RSH pulls you off it at Chester before going on another train to Crewe, where you make the XC an hour earlier than the NRE route.

For this and the 1652 all I can suspect is that NRE thinks you're cutting one of the connections too tight and it won't show the route.

NRE finds the dep 1855 arr 0714 if you tick the include slower trains option; the 0625 arrival involves overnighting in Worcester rather than Birmingham. No idea why RSH doesn't find that.

Edit: Ah, Lad Brookes figured it out. WebTIS is bad at finding journeys where you need to use multiple tickets.
