Llamas On The Line In Kent

After the picture of cows at Hever Station a few weeks ago, BBC are now reporting llamas on the line near Hildenborough.

Trains have been delayed after around seven llamas were spotted on the track near Hildenborough.

The last sighting was at 8.36am and the trains were slowed as a precaution, but are now running as normal.

Network Rail warned us this morning that 6-8 llamas were seen near the line around Hildenborough – we’re not sure how they got there or where they were going, but we can assume they weren’t trying to catch the train."

So the South Eastern spokeperson has a sense of humour at least.

Some escaped Flamingos from the long closed Penscynor Gardens delayed a coal train on the stub of the Vale of Neath line circa 1974.....driver possibly required an eye test.

I wonder where they came from, I think there is a sort of safari park park thingy on that line, but I think it is further along, near the Marden, Headcorn, Pluckly area?

I had this excuse once when commuting out of Brighton a long time ago.. These was a field full of Llama's just north of Preston Park.

22nd October 1943 , there was an escaped Lion in Clapham Junction yard.

Dealt with by the Home Guard who enticed into a packing case - (probably used up their yearly meat allowance to do so)
