saw it at Nottingham and there were 2 grey doors still, one even still had the MML '1' sticker to show first class - then again, they have a load of spare meridian doors at Etches Park (if you look carefully you can see the stand full of them on the way towards Long Eaton!) that are still grey; so they could be defective and replaced. For your information, it was the first class coaches

Thanks for that info. I thought they would have painted the spare doors while they were at it. We could have Meridians running around with grey doors for years! I've also noticed 222008 at the first class end has a wrong colour bit just under the coupler! It's been like this for a while. (see here - http://andrew-chambers.fotopic.net/p54367250.html

Also the coupler not working, a common fault with the class!

I just don't think they can be bothered to fix them somtimes. 222001's coupler has been broken for months and months. I suppose the 7 cars don't have to couple in normal day to day running but it would help to be fixed if it broke down.

it is assumed that the 2 SWT 158s have returned to Salisbury (or wherever they came from) as I haven't seen them in over a fortnight. Removed.

sure it wasn't 158783 on ECS? Cos the train which passes the house when I go out to school in the mornings 99% of the time was a SWT unit, now it's usually a TPE unit

I'm not sure. I just looked on fotopic and this picture of 158881 was added today, doesn't say when it was took though - http://oakwood-shed.fotopic.net/p54919209.html.

And this picture of 158882 was taken on the 11th November - http://tims-train-photos.fotopic.net/p54904409.html.

So it looks like they're still here. Glad they are, if they went EMT would really be in trouble. I don't know how they are going to cope come December.

Does anybody know how many HST sets EMT has? I know they have 25 power cars but how many complete sets can be made with the MK3 stock they have?

11 sets IIRC, I know they have a set out of service, I can't remember if they have 10 in service but 11 leased, or 11 in service and 12 on lease... they are numbered NL01-11/12

Miles and 222001, I can also confirm the ongoing presence of the 2 SWT 158s, as I saw them both at Derby on Saturday. Was pleasantly surprised, as I too had assumed they'd gone back home :)

Only 6 Mk3s in EMT livery? I think not. ;)

NL09 is missing - maybe it's one of the sets that went to XC?

Could be. 11 sets would be quite tight for EMT though. They require 9 sets in services for HST booked services. One HST is usually used in place of a Meridian and if one set is out of service from some reason that requires 100% of the fleet to be used with no spare.

I added set NL08 to my original list as being in EMT livery - apologies for not checking the front page. The other noted cars came from another source.

158873 was out of service (but running thank god!) on Etches Park today. My guess is that now the meridians have been finished, the remaining mixed bag of 153s will slowly pass through the paint shed, and the 158s are slowly being refurbed, which will only leave the class 43s and mk3s / class 08s to be done.

Incidentally, anyone know why for the past couple of days Nottingham - Skegness has been dogbox galore? where have all the 156s gone? Saw one on Etches park and one on a Lincoln Central - Leicester service!

I've noticed a 156s doing some Norwich - Chesterfield services.

and yet there's a 5 car train (153+153+156+153) on the Skegness-Nottingham (they'll probably just use a 153 on its way back to Boston) and there were about 4 people per coach
