Just out of interest, do you know if GA are painting all the units with blue doors into red - and getting rid of the partial NXEA grey from those 321 units which received the NX livery? Thanks.

Not that I'm aware of. The next big thing is the 315 refirbs.

No, the 321s will remain in 3 different liveries: Silver/White/Blue, White/Blue and White/Red. I kinda like it tbh, reminds me of the old Go! Airlines that had different colored tails on all of their aircraft.

Much as I'd like to see the silver ends painted white and the blue doors red (to make the 317 and 321 fleets consistent), the 315s, the hauled mark 3s and the diesel fleet are perhaps more of a priority.

Maybe if the "pause" in the franchise process becomes drawn out the extension contract could perhaps include a clause to get the silver bits/blue doors done?

on the units which have a white body and then a dark blue/grey coloured door would it be easy to vinyl them red?

Not sure- the doors (on 317/321) need removed to be painted or vinyled. i don't know how involved a process this is- if it's fairly quick and easy, the ideal would be if there's a spare set of doors to have those done, a set fully swapped and repeat every (however long it takes to get the doors painted).

But it isn't a priority.

Thanks for that - I thought that may be the case. Will be interesting to see if the franchise changes hands in 2014 so the whole repainting merry go round can spin again! (Presuming they don't retain the neutral livery).

The first 318 to be refurbished and repainted into the saltire livery will begin next week with 318255 entering springburn works begin on friday and expected to be released in January.

314209 I think gets released today and 314206 I think enters today.

318255 went in for a minor overhaul and was released on friday, that just leaves 318261 to go into the works

This isn't really relevant but I thought the 321's looked great in the old FGE Green, blue, grey and white livery. It just suited them.

Version 1

Version 2

Just like the NSE livery it just suits them in my opinion.

Scotrail 170457 is going to get released this weekend, being replace by another 170
It's due out on Sunday 18/11. 170393, the first of the ex Hull Trains units is supposed to be replacing it so it will be interesting to see what interior work is carried out, if any. It also appears that they are stopping short of the Standard only units 458-461.

I would guess so - can't think of anything in the LM Fleet that isnt in London Midlands colours, unless there's any non liveried LM 08s.

yeah I meant interior wise. Have they refurbished the interior? I thought they still had NSE seats?

Incidentally I saw NSE seats inside a FCC 319 today where would they have found the upholstery... do they still have lots of spares in the depot?

Do you know what area they operate in? I'm going up to GA area for the first time properly the weekend after next (Norwich) and I don't know if they'll run around there?
thanks

They normally run:
Norwich-Lowestoft
Norwich-Great Yarmouth
Norwich-Sheringham

One unit a day also does:
Marks Tey-Sudbury

Also they do some of (but not many):
Ipswich-Felixstowe/Saxmundham/Lowestoft

GA are missing 156402 atm as it has gone away for refurbishment, so you should hopefully see at least one of them at Norwich.

Have a great time, Norwich is a really great station for spotting! You get 153/156/158/170/90+MK.3 there regularly, with the odd 37/47/57/66/321 as well.

Itd be nice to see at least one of these before the livery disappears! I managed to photograph the LM 150107 in its CT livery a couple of weeks ago at Bletchley which was lucky! Do you know where the interiors of the GA 153s and 156s originate from? Thanks very much for all the info and I'm looking forward to this trip a lot :D

The 156 interiors are from "one"/NXEA, and the 153s were from Anglia Railways, although they have just had new carpets (aside from 153314).

Although all 153s except 153314 have black carpets now.

Is there any word on when 156402 will be back yet, and has the Class 321/4 interior refurbishment program been completed yet?
