Liverpool to Taunton

Hi everyone.
I'm needing to go from Liverpool Lime St to Taunton on friday 29 april and then return on monday 2 May. I need to be flexible so am not needing advance tickets. Does anyone have any ideas for splitting tickets to reduce the full off peak return price. I have a 16-25 railcard.

I'm assuming you're just asking for general pointers as to where to 'split' the tickets, so that you will be using a combination of tickets for one journey? (as there is no info on departure times, railcards held etc)

You could look at something along these lines:

Liverpool-Crewe
Crewe-Stafford
Stafford-Birmingham Stns
Birmingham Stns - Worcester Stns
Worcester Stns - Taunton *

* This is cheaper to break this down further by 'splitting' at Bristol for some ticket types but this doesn't appear to work for Off Peak Return (SVR) tickets.

Note that the above suggestion of 'splitting' at Worcester is to 'reduce the price' but if you want a faster journey, you will instead need to split at Cheltenham (and Bristol).

I've also not checked if Crewe & Stafford are the best places to split between Liverpool and Birmingham, you may be able to find better alternatives.

Also consider Wolverhampton as a potentially useful 'splitting' point (instead of Birmingham and possibly instead of Stafford) as this can be cheaper in some instances.

If you want more information please feel free to indicate how important journey time is, and what your departure times may be (ie. to determine whether you may be travelling at times that may be considered "peak" times).
