Liverpool to Euston but return from High Wycombe

I'm thinking of doing a trip to London next month, i'm wondering if i buy the Liverpool to Euston any permitted route, off peak return, would i be allowed to start the return journey at High Wycombe & change at Banbury & Birmingham New Street instead of going to Euston, if so what are the afternoon peak restriction times from High Wycombe?

Reckon that's o.k. No midweek return travel from London Marylebone after 1600 or before 1900. Fare = £72.55 if the ticket you get is Liverpool Stns to/from London Terminals (with the railcard discount). Effectively for the return journey via Banbury, if starting at High Wycombe, you'd need to be on the 1502 from London Marylebone (calls 1525 at High Wycombe) or wait until the 1946 from London Marylebone (calling 2023 at High Wycombe).

Provided its the Any Permitted ticket then via High Wycombe is a permitted route so yes.

I once had to argue the toss resuming on such a ticket on a non direct route so the next time I purchased it from an outlining Merseyrail served station as the starting point at the same price as from Liverpool.

If you don't need to go by train from London to High Wycombe, you may prefer to buy a Liverpool-High Wycombe return with a route of "via Banbury", and pay the excess to go via London on your way to High Wycombe.

The ticket should cost £56.25, plus another £11.30 to change the route of the outward journey from "via Banbury" to "via London" (giving a total of £67.55). You should be able to pay this at a ticket office or on the train to London, but you can't do it online or at a ticket machine.

As excess fares are something a member of staff may not do every day, you may need to confirm that you only need to go via London on the way to High Wycombe and how much you expect it to cost. And you may need to show whoever it is your railcard in any case.

If you buy the tickets this way, you can leave High Wycombe at any time after 9:30am. There would be no time restrictions for the London-High Wycombe leg, but you could only use it on the same day as the Liverpool-London one.

That alternative is not a bad idea, i can then get the Carousel bus route 102 in from High Wycombe into & from the TFL area, i have a Merseytravel issued ECNTS pass so that'll be free between 09.30am & 11pm

I'm thinking now maybe split tickets, LNWR only Liverpool to Birmingham, then Chiltern only Birmingham to High Wycombe, if it works out cheaper than £56.25.

I'm just thinking of going to London on a different route than using the WCML to & from Euston for a change, High Wycombe is one of the alternatives as is Oxford, but thinking Oxford could be bit too pricey, & on Crosscountry think Chiltern is the better alternative.

The Chiltern line isn't exactly spectacular scenery wise (the south WCML is nicer) but it is fairly cheap and isn't unpleasant, and the units are comfortable. If you get a hauled set head for the "business zone" for 2+1 seating at no extra cost.
