Just found the following on National Rail:
A signalling problem is causing disruption between West Allerton and Edge Hill
Because of this, the following alterations will apply until further notice:
There are no trains between Runcorn and Liverpool Lime Street and between Warrington Central and Liverpool Lime Street.
Some trains between Manchester and Liverpool are being diverted via Huyton.
Trains via Huyton to and from Liverpool Lime Street can run normally but are being delayed by up to 30 minutes
Virgin Trains services to and from Liverpool Lime Street are starting / terminating at Crewe
Buses are running between Liverpool Lime Street and Warrington Central
Merseyrail are not being affected by this disruption.
London Midland and Virgin Trains are accepting each others passengers on reasonable routes
Out of interest why would this mean trains via Huyton being delayed by upto 30mins
