Hello, I'm trying to buy tickets from Liverpool Lime Street to London Euston, First Class for Monday, 17th November. Having checked Virgin Trains' website, they have advertised the 09.47 to London Euston will cost £138.95 with a 16-25 Railcard.
With that price being a little to high for me, I have also checked how much it would be on the 09.35 Virgin Train from Chester to London Euston, £44.55. I'm considering traveling via Chester as it is a lot cheaper, however with the train being formed of a Voyager (Am not sure if it is a double or single set), will the trains First Class coach empty of full?

Specifying via Chester, there's a 1st Advance for £45.20 on the 0843 Merserail from Lime St, with an 8 min connection at Chester onto the 0935 VT Voyager. This starts at Chester so shouldn't be overly busy in 1st, although it'll probably get cosier at Crewe and Milton Keynes. You'll get a Voyager mini breakfast which is ok but nowhere near as substantial as on the Pendos.

The 1047 is £58.40 but that is a Light Breakfast service, offering bacon/sausage rolls.

Coach D is usually First Class on the 09:35, so there are two First Class coaches. When Coach D is First Class, it tends to be very, very quiet.

The Chester trains aren't so busy from Milton Keynes now that a Scotland-Birmingham-Euston (SBE) train calls 3 minutes beforehand, although if the SBE train is late, the Chester train can be full and standing in Standard Class.

There's also a £110 First Off-Peak Single available on the 09:47 from Liverpool, so no one in their right mind should by the £210.50 1st Advance (no one in their right mind should buy a £210.50 1st Advance full stop!).
