One of the problems with long distance trains out of Glasgow in my experience is that they don't load consistently. You can have it extremely busy one day and practically empty another.Very lightly loaded.

The morning train leaves Preston four minutes after an Avanti service from Birmingham.

Yes, the Glasgow - Liverpool services do get cancelled often.I did wonder whether people were avoiding it due to unreliability.
as a 0745 Glasgow to Liverpool service too, not seen that since before Covid.
Not quite "almost always", but reliability of the 1612 TPE service in June certainly seems to have been decidedly sub-optimal.The 16:12 service is almost always cancelled
I was hoping to commute from Oxenholme to Liverpool. These would have been ideal. As it is then it’s an Avanti to Preston or Wigan and then a stopper into Liverpool. The 1612 North bound looks like an ok option though.
It’s been very reliable recently may be due to the rest day working agreementThe 16:12 service is almost always cancelled
