Liverpool Central Lewis's exit

Now that Liverpool Central has had a refurbishment, I was wondering, what has happened to the exit that took you into Lewis' department store, itself now closed? Is the exit stil lthere, but with the roller shutter in the down position, or has it been blocked over by the new panelling in the station?

The shutter is well and truly down as Lewis's closed down a few years ago, after it parent company went bust.

Not the answer the poster was seeking I think, more if the entrance / exit is still there or now been blocked permanently.

I seem to recall that the full width sliding gate was removed during the station refurbishment and replaced with a standard size door and panelling. The former Mersey Bookstall kiosk opposite was also panelled out at the same time.

That's the Fairclough Street entrance which was there prior to the refurbishment. I believe the old Lewis's exit has been permanently removed and is now a wall with adverts over it.

I seem to remember seeing an article in the Echo about Lewis's keeping a track on Customers and spending either side of the Closure / reopening during the line rebuild in the 70s
That access into the store was vital to the stores trade at the time.
