Where is the most productive station on the network, need to get these crossed off before they gone.

Sandhills for Northern, any of the Liverpool loop stations for Wirral.

Yeah, unless something goes horrendously wrong everything on the Northern Line will run between Sandhills, Moorfields and Central. Everything on the Wirral Line will go around the loop. The journies might get a bit tedious but you would scratch loads of units.

I had worked out a few years ago that there are 18 trains per hour on each the Northern and the Wirral for the standard pattern timetable.

Southport - Hunts Cross 10 diagrams
Ormskirk - Liverpool Central 5 diagrams
Kirkby - Liverpool Central 3 diagrams

West Kirby 5 diagrams
New Brighton 4 diagrams
Chester 6 diagrams
Ellesmere Port 3 diagrams

There are a couple of additional Monday - Friday afternoon peak journeys to Southport, and the Ellesmere Port frequency is increased to every 15 minutes during that time as well.

Perhaps somebody local could confirm if this is still the case or not?

If you just want to see them all (rather than ride on as many as possible), note that there are often a few units parked at Southport, and others may be inside or parked outside the depots at Kirkdale & Birkenhead North. Some can be seen from passing trains, but you will need binoculars if you want to identify them all from , for example, Kirkdale station.

I'm just after getting them crossed off in my book. Not fussed about riding on them.
