Linlithgow vantage point?

I may be able to watch/phot the Deltic go through Linlithgow on Saturday a'noon.

Could anyone suggest a good location, preferably to the south of the line (in case there's any sun), preferably elevated?

I'll be on foot, having arrived in the town on the bus from Bo'ness about 25 minutes before D9009 comes through, so could walk a bit!

Royal Terrace

You'll struggle to get closer to the line anywhere else outside the station, and the road rises higher than the rail the further long it you go, and there is a footbridge over the railway a little further along.

This is probably a bit late to help you. This evening I noticed that the ongoing footbridge replacement works are unfinished and there is no public access to the footbridge west of Linlithgow Station. Royal Terrace is probably still the best bet.

Many thanks to both of you. Royal Tce was fine, except I wonder if the stone wall affected the acoustics. Or maybe it was momentarily throttled back...
