Surely a neutral section on OHLE is very similar to a gap in third rail, from the point of view of what can go wrong, so I don't see why there's an argument about use of the term "gapping".

AIUI an AC unit with a single pan can lose power if it happens to accidentally stop in a neutral section, but trackside signage is there to hopefully prevent it.

OR if someone accidentally forgets to turn the OHL back on after engineering works then sends a EMU though as happened very recently on the ECML ;)

Because its not the correct railway terminology. In a safety critical workplace, its important to be correct.

That should never of happened, unless the ECO handed it back to the signaller as it's live and never actually livened it back up.

The length of track between the magnet which breaks the contact at a neutral section and the magnet which remakes the contact is many times longer than the meter or so of non-conductive wire.
Therefore, it is reasonable to assume that a loco or unit which is unfortunate enough to come to a stand with continuity broken due to the isolation magnets, will most probably still have its pantograph in contact with energised wire, and therefore, can be restarted.

Very different to the arrangement on third rail where shoes are either in contact with energised rail or they are not.
