So if the ECML is shut north of Northallerton for Engineering Works, no Class 91s can be dragged via Sunderland?

If this is the case, isn't it very short sighted!

if the ECML is shut they normally send the hst sets on the sunderland diversion and turn the 91s around before the works remember looking out my window one Sunday when the were doing this and seen a east coast hst going past

No, they didn't. They only went to Barmouth. ERTMS was in use at that point between Harlech & Pwllheli, so if they went beyond Barmouth, they would have had to have a 97/3 piloting the train. It won't happen again in a hurry, that's for sure!

I did the Spitfire Tour to Pwllheli with 2 DRS 37s last year & 37685 blew up between Carnforth & Lancaster, so it was 3x37 to Crewe, 685 dead on the front!

They either turn the 91 at York or Darlo depending where the work is. The HST sets run either via Stillington or by the coast. I tihnk they have dragged 91's via Stillington

I know its not a loco but signage dictates that class 139s cannot be shunted past stourbridge junction except into the sheds.

Are Loco Hauled trains still banned from the line via East Putney?

I always thought 323 were the only electric tractions allowed to use the cross city line, but I saw a 350 on a Lichfield - Redditch working in about 2008. Does anyone know of any other electric traction using the line since the old slam door trains were withdrawn in the mid 90's?

Also, whilst were on the subkect of banned traction, is it just a myth that 150''s were banned from the Lickey Incline, or was there ever any actual truth to that?
