80mph on the Fast and 75 on the Slow.
20 towards Hunts Cross.

It's possible these will change when the line is resignalled/upgraded 2017/18.
It's also a long time (2000?) since I read that Ditton box had been upgraded and would allow higher speeds one day on that stretch (95 at the moment on the Up, 80 on the Down).
Plus the Halton Curve upgrade of course.

I think the Fast/Slow crossovers (Speke/Wavertree) need upgrading.
You lose a lot of time if you are turned Slow line through LPY at the moment.

Looking at the Sectional Appendix, it looks as if the current track layout is non-idea given that there are several terminating trains and it is used as a place for trains to terminate short.

All roads bidirectional through the station would seem appropriate.

This could be facilitated using the existing single ladder crossing at Speke Junction and by replacing the Allerton West double Xovers with a single ladder. Further connections would also be needed.

My memory may be playing tricks on me, but I thought Allerton West had been remodelled as a single Lead Junction 35-40y ago. Is this true? Has it changed again?

Allerton West?

Allerton West Jn (as opposed to West Allerton station).
It's the double left hand crossover west of Allerton station (now LPY).
Allerton Jn is the one on the Fast towards Hunts Cross, and Allerton East Jn is the one on the Slow towards Garston.
